Additional history that happened since the last application (their history at the school before they left, what happened and caused them to return):

Roughly a two years ago (in Smash Academy time), Chiyo entered the academy as a Vaporeon full of fear and distrust. In spite of her anxieties, she was able to make friends and develop herself more as a person. Less afraid, a little more trusting, and a bit more sunshine. Unfortunately, life’s a rollercoaster and Chiyo got on the ride of shadow clones, robots, and “candy” that set her backwards a few paces.

Afraid again, she stumbled upon a portal which she believed could take her home for a while. What it ended up being was a portal leading to a different world that set her off on a journey of traveling worlds to find her way back home to either Kanto or Smash. On her journey, she saw strife and peace and learned she needed to “buck up” if she was to survive alone and make it back. A few weeks later and she managed to find and cast a spell to summon a portal to Smash Academy. However, the return was temporary and, much to her dismay, Chiyo found herself back in the world she cast the spell in: Akaneia.

It was in that world that she witnessed the chaos of war and its devastation on the land and people. But it was also there that she learned of how petty her worries could be and what was truly important in life. She met people there who feared her (for what they assumed she might have been), terrorized her, and welcomed her. From the ones who welcomed and sheltered her, she learned a great deal about people and herself. They taught her life lessons and, as best they could, “toughened her up” before she continued on her journey to the next world.

Her next stops over the years were luckily worlds without great, catastrophic conflicts. The most notable one being the world she resided in before returning to Smash Academy. To be exact, it was a town by the name of Flower Bud Village.

An elderly couple took her in, disregarding her questionable features (thinking that she might have been a water fairy of some sort), and treated her as family. At one point, Chiyo grew so accustomed to the peace and tranquility of farm life, she nearly ended her journey to return to Smash. The life she had almost reminded her of her home in Kanto.

However, a great part of her grew to be dissatisfied with the peace. It wasn’t the world she was meant to be in and, deep down, she still hadn’t become the strong person she set out to be when she enrolled in Smash. As crazy as the school could be, she missed it. A life with no random chaos and conflicts suddenly seemed dull and unfulfilling. Plus, she missed her dear friends at Smash and had unresolved business there she didn’t want to run from. More importantly, she didn’t want to run away from herself and her opportunity to change to become the best she could be. Therefore, with a renewed vigor, she continued her journey.

Two years after her first departure, Chiyo finally found her way home to Smash Academy.

Personality Changes (ie, some characters grow different based on where they are taken from. Please write down any changes in personality compared to the first app):

From her many journeys through various worlds, Chiyo has grown to be better at adapting to her environment. Though she’s still timid, she’s much calmer and less terrified in dealing with situations and troubles. Where circumstances would’ve once made her run with her tail tucked between her legs, she can now somewhat face them head on. Instead of shamelessly fleeing, she may be rooted to the ground in fear as she fails to keep a brave front.

She’s also more levelheaded and optimistic. Her previous, heavily pessimistic self has been left behind in other worlds and replaced with a willingness to trust others again. With the knowledge Chiyo has gained from other worlds, she has found some peace in understanding herself and life. She feels that she has become closer to what she once used to be when she still resided with her trainers: a Pokemon not bound by her worries, is open-minded, and confident in herself. She still isn’t strong physically and mentally as she wishes to be, but believes it’ll come in due time during her stay at Smash Academy. She’s set goals to achieve and hopes to remain in the academy for as long as she is able.

In the meantime, she’s still a relatively hesitant worrywart with a wounded heart, but she’s begun to heal old wounds and is working on moving forward with her life. It won’t be easy and with her overactive imagination that tends to produce scenarios of things that could go wrong, Chiyo will have a bumpy road ahead of her.

In-Character 1st person sample:

Here is a very recent sample from the DR!

In-Character 3rd person sample:

Sighing contentedly, the book in Chiyo’s hands closed with a dull thud. Ahhh…. How nice it’d be to meet a prince from a distant land! she thought dreamily. She had just read a tale of grand adventures, dark forces, tests of bonds, and romance. And, as always, after reading such tales her mind would always wander, dreaming about the possibility of her meeting her fateful ‘prince’ and having unbreakable bonds with friends and grand adventures of her own. To evaluate her life now, she’d say she was doing well in having deep bonds with several people at Smash, bonds she’d treasure dearly forever. As for adventures, they may not have been grand, but they were adventures nonetheless! That is, if one could count all the hectic and random events occurring at the academy as adventures.

But, regardless, Chiyo felt content with her life, now that she had finally managed to return. Smash Academy, to her, was another home – one that she wanted to be in for as long as she possibly could. Smiling happily to herself, she thanked her lucky stars that she stumbled upon the school on accident. Judging from her previous experiences, portal hopping had actually done her some good.

Humming ever so softly, she slowly stood up from her seat in the library and quietly made her way to reshelf the book back in its proper place.

The question now was: to read another book now or not to read another book?
